Abandoned Newborn Sparks Outrage as NYPD Hunts Masked Suspect

BRONX: NYPD has released video of a masked individual suspected of abandoning a newborn baby girl inside a tote bag outside a Bronx apartment building.

The footage, captured early Sunday morning, shows the unidentified person walking along Morrisania’s rain-soaked streets wearing a black hooded coat, white pants, sneakers, and a face mask while carrying a green tote bag.

The baby, just days old and swaddled in blankets, was left outside a building on Reverend James Polite Ave. near East 167th Street around 6 a.m. A passerby heard the infant’s cries and alerted authorities. Police found the newborn in the bag and rushed her to Jacobi Medical Center, where she is in stable condition.

Authorities are still searching for the suspect, whose actions highlight the tragic consequences of eroding personal responsibility and the devaluation of life. The video serves as a reminder of the need for accountability and compassion in a society that increasingly shirks both.
