3 Men Sought for Questioning in Connection With Fatal Shooting on Staten Island

STATEN ISLAND: Police are seeking three men for questioning in connection with a fatal shooting in Stapleton on Monday evening.

Officers responding to a ShotSpotter activation found the 53-year-old male victim lying on Broad Street near Tompkins Avenue with a gunshot wound to the chest just after 5:30 p.m., according to a spokesman and a statement from the NYPD’s Deputy Commissioner of Public Information.

The victim was transported by EMS to Richmond University Medical Center in West Brighton, where he was pronounced dead about an hour later at 6:50 p.m., according to the police statement.

The identity of the victim has not been released pending notification of kin.

Police previously said that two men fired multiple rounds at the victim.

A 911 caller told police that three males ran from the location, according to a source with knowledge of the investigation.

Officers searched the area in the aftermath of the shooting without success. No suspects have been identified, no arrests have been made and the investigation continues, according to police.

Police on Tuesday described the suspects as three males with dark complexions and medium builds.

On Monday evening, police cordoned off a section of Broad Street, just a few hundred feet from Tompkins Avenue, as officers investigated the scene.

A nearby resident said he heard multiple shots close to his home. “I thought it was firecrackers,” the man said.
