BRONX: At least five people were hurt in separate shootings that erupted in Upper Manhattan and The Bronx late Monday, cops said.
A man was shot on Madison Avenue near East 135th Street in East Harlem, on the grounds of NYCHA’s Lincoln Houses, around 6:20 p.m., cops said.
He was standing in front of a building when a man blasted him in the left arm, police said.
The victim was taken to Harlem Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect fled on a bike, joined by a group of other people, cops said.
The gunplay came hours after a mass shooting in Harlem killed a college basketball star and injured eight other people.
No arrests had been made in connection to that case by Tuesday morning.
In The Bronx just after 9:30 p.m., two men were shot by a drive-by gunman just off a basketball court on Courtlandt Avenue near East 158th Street on the grounds of NYCHA’s Jackson Houses in Melrose, cops and police sources said.
A 43-year-old man was grazed in the head, and a 28-year-old man shot in the right shoulder, according to authorities and police sources.
Both were taken to Lincoln Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
The male suspect took off in a red vehicle, possibly a Honda CRV, fleeing north on Courtlandt Avenue, cops said.
A few hours later, just before 11 p.m., a 28-year-old man was shot in the back and left hand on Westchester Avenue near Olmstead Avenue in the Parkchester section of the borough, cops said.
He reported hearing shots and feeling pain and was taken by EMS to Jacobi Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, cops said.
The victim is known to the NYPD, with multiple prior arrests, police said.
Another Bronx gunshot victim, a 27-year-old man, walked into Westchester Square Medical Center with a wound to the right shoulder, authorities said.
Police say he was shot at the corner of Raymond Avenue and Odell Street in Parkchester, about five blocks away from the scene where the older man was shot.
He has a few prior arrests and was uncooperative with investigators, cops said.
The two shooting scenes appear to be connected, police said. It’s unclear whether the victims are known to each other.
Two males took off in a light-colored Toyota, authorities said.
