Armed Suspects Kill One, Wound Another in Violent Queens Drug Raid at Illegal Gambling Den

QUEENS: Four armed criminals stormed an illegal gambling operation in Queens last month, resulting in a deadly encounter that left one man dead and another injured. The brazen attack highlights the dangers of illegal drug and gambling activities that often plague communities, authorities said.

Yun Li, 37, tragically lost his life during the Dec. 19 incident when he was shot in the head inside the gambling den on Haight Street near 41st Avenue, just blocks from his home in Flushing. Li clung to life for five days in the hospital before succumbing to his injuries on Dec. 23, police reported.

Another victim, a 42-year-old man, was also shot, taking a bullet to the cheek. He was hospitalized and is currently in stable condition, authorities confirmed.

The perpetrators, described as a violent quartet, held numerous victims at gunpoint during the raid. The suspects seized “multiple pounds of marijuana” before indiscriminately opening fire, police said. This chilling act underscores the chaos and harm that accompany the illicit drug trade.

The NYPD has released images of the four suspects, who were heavily bundled up in winter coats with hoods and caps concealing their identities. Authorities also shared photos of the vehicles believed to be their getaway cars: a black Dodge Durango and a gray Nissan Pathfinder.

No arrests have been made as of Tuesday, and the investigation remains ongoing.

This tragic event is a stark reminder of the societal costs of unchecked illegal activity, which fosters environments where lawlessness thrives. The NYPD urges anyone with information to come forward to help bring these criminals to justice and restore safety to the community.
