NEW YORK CITY: A brazen robbery crew has targeted 49 storefronts across New York City over three months, stealing ATMs and making off with tens of thousands of dollars, police report.
The trio allegedly used stolen vehicles as getaways during their spree, which spanned upper Manhattan, The Bronx, Brooklyn, and Queens between Sept. 19 and Dec. 26. Inside the stores, they looted ATMs and other items before fleeing.
In two September heists alone, the group reportedly stole nearly $40,000 from ATMs. Authorities have yet to provide a total for all thefts.
Surveillance footage from Dec. 23 shows two suspects disconnecting an ATM inside a grocery store in Jackson Heights, Queens, around 1:20 a.m., as released by the NYPD.
