MANHATTAN: A drunken FDNY EMT accused of headbutting a NYPD officer early Tuesday was among the arrested city workers, police said.
A big legal post-Memorial Day hangover is likely to hit three New York City employees who were separately arrested over the holiday weekend.
Two of the arrests actually occurred early Tuesday, and alcohol was suspected in both incidents, police said.
The first arrest occurred about 1 a.m., when police rolled up on off-duty FDNY EMT Nicholas McGowan, 27, who had crashed his vehicle in Staten Island, authorities said.
Officers noted McGowan smelled strongly of alcohol and arrested him, leading to a violent scene when at central booking, police said.
McGowan headbutted an NYPD officer, leading to an assault against a police officer charge, in addition to driving while impaired and refusing to take a breath test charges, authorities said.
The second Tuesday arrest involved a Department of Correction Captain George Toliver, 37, who police said was weaving in and out of traffic lanes on Grand Central Parkway.
NYPD officers pulled Toliver over about 3:28 a.m. and arrested him shortly afterward on suspicion of drunken driving, police said.
The third arrest unfolded on Memorial Day itself, authorities said. Cops arrested an NYPD city custodial assistant — Quadisha Thomas, 26 — who got into an argument that turned violent with a man.
Thomas hit the man in the head and caused him to fall on the ground, police said. She was arrested on requested charges of assault and harassment, authorities said.
The man involved in the fight was also arrested, but police officials said they couldn’t provide more information on his background and charges as of Tuesday afternoon.
